In this blog, I'm going to talk about a game I thoroughly enjoy, Metroid, and more specifically Samus Aran. Metroid is about an intergalactic bounty hunter named Samus Aran that is hunting the space pirates, extinction of the metroid species and works for the Galactic Federation saving planets from infinite peril. The metroid are a life draining species that are homed to the planet SR388. They were created by the species called the Chozo to solve a problem that the rest of the galaxy was unaware. On the planet SR388, there was a species called parasite X which infected, killed, and copied every living species. The Chozo created the metroid to absorb the parricide X, but the metroid where strong and violent and evolved into larger, more dangerous creatures. Fortunately, the metroid could only evolve under the conditions of SR388, so when they spread to Zebes, Tallon 4 and Aether, they were mere metroid, but metroid none the less. On the planet Tallon 4, the metroid which were transported from Zebes to Tallon 4 were experimented on with a radio active ore called Phason that came from a comet that struck the planet and slowly poisoned the Chozo and life that lived there. The phason mutated the metroid into hunter metroid which gave birth to tallon metroid, a metroid that was dependant on phason. There were also fission metroid that came from the crater that were given birth by a orange phason that is more concentrated than the blue. The fission metroid had a neat defense mechanism that made it so that it could only be damaged by certain beam types. A metroid that also shared this ability was metroid prime. Metroid prime created and fed of the phason, it was capable of firing beams of different energy types, arrays of poisons or ballistics missiles, grapple beams, and slow moving homing projectiles. Without its armor, metroid prime created pools of phason and energy quakes. When Samus defeated metroid prime, metroid prime converted into an unusual creature, grabbed and fused it's self to Samus's suit, becoming Dark Samus.
